Week 4 - Color Schemes

The two schemes that I choose to work with were analogous
for the top picture and complimentary for the bottom picture.
These photos were taken indoors as just random items that I felt would
work for this assignment. I felt it was a bit of a challenge to
find items to work for these pictures and these types of schemes.

  1. Stacy,

I also found it difficult to locate items that fit one of the three specific color schemes. It just so happened that I received a piece of mail that contrasted my iPhone and coffee table that afternoon. I definitely like your first photo. The color, detail, and focus make it a great macro photo.

  2. Bright yellow and bright green could use a yellow-green color in between to soften their transition. The contrast is strong as it stands in this photo, and analogous should be a soft transition. On your complementary shot I'm not sure why you consider this complementary. Hot pink is a purpley red with white added, it's opposite would be in the green family; maybe you could try this one again?

  3. And one more thing, when taking photos it's good to have a clear idea of your subject. With so many options I'd stay away from photographing fabrics, patterns on clothing, artwork created by others, etc. try for something interesting. The (are the cowboy boots?) analogous shot might be more interesting if we saw the whole boots in a still life setup. The fabric would be more interesting (complementary shot) also if in a still life of other similar complementary colored items.
