This photo was shot candidly while she was focusing on trying to remove the hat!
This photo he was very willing to let me take his picture and I was trying to fill the frame without ruining the picture!
she was very much focused on something else sometimes the best pictures are when there not paying attention!
this photo was not taken specifically for this assignment but I thought it was a good portrait photo of a proud boy and his prize!
Hi Stacy - You have very cute children. I've found that portrait photography can be difficult - I like how you were able to frame the kids with very limited background interuption. The mood of your subjects and their expressions made me smile.....Congratulations to your son on his deer... he looks very proud.
ReplyDeleteYou've discovered a few of the drawbacks of photographing indoors and at night. The flash washes out faces and creates shadows. Natural lighting and a more neutral backgrounds are better for this kind of photo. Good portraits just need to be planned, candid can be great, but is not always the best approach and you might be surprised to find that setting up a photo shoot time and place still allows for candids within the photo shoot time period (when your subject gets silly or loosens up a bit).
ReplyDeleteThe hunting photo is great. Photos like this are a Vermont tradition. I assume you used a flash which worked pretty well. It's amazingly clear for being outside at night. I've found out that taking photos inside at night without professional lighting is fairly difficult.
ReplyDeleteI really like the hunting picture! Taking pictures in the night can be a bit difficult sometimes, but you seemed to have gotten it! Good job! :D
